Pros

Salary and Benefits good. Nothing else...

Cons

Lures New Hires (inclds desperate adjusters from other companies), and Interns under knowingly False and Misleading Circumstances. First 3-6 months you are patted on the back with encouragement. THEN, they flip on the Light Switch with their true agenda. They: 1. Rule by Intimidation, Threats, and Abuse. 2. You are assigned a "territory" with DEMANDED Quota and Inspection/Settlement assignments. 3. Other adjusters intimidated into either quitting or fired for poor performance and accused of insubordination then Written Up to prepare a negative personnel file in case you try and try for Unemployment. 4. Suddenly, your territory increases (including distance) and you are RESPONSIBLE for the same Inspections with Settlement Quotas INCLUDING, your new territory expansion of those driven out; NO EXCUSES. 5. Provided a Salary based on a 40 hour (or less) work week. Understanding is IF you have claims, there is NO excuse for not getting all Claims Inspected and Settled almost Immediately, if not sooner. No matter how complex, how far away or how large. There is NO EXCUSE, even if most of your claims are ABOVE your Settlement Limit. It IS YOUR fault and your personnel IS documented with threats of it being used against you! (What happened to all of those "Pats on the Back"? 6. NO Overtime Pay! But as long as you have claims, you are EXPECTED to get them processed. 7. Nights and Weekends are no longer for you, your Family, or Friends. Again, NO Compensation, though illegal. 8. Then you TRY talking to your Manager only to find they too have been driven out. 9. They will not replace the "missing" adjusters whose territories you are blamed for. 10. They can NOT hire many other experienced adjusters who refuse to jump from the Frying Pan into the Fire. "Word is on the Street"... 11. They REFUSE to hire Outside Assistance (I/A's) to help out their Adjusters, Insureds, and Agents. 12. Set up disconnect with Personnel. Called Chain of Command. 13. They Practice, and their Goal is, High Employee Turnover. Especially those closer to Retirement and who have accumulated years of Experience... Other than these few minor drawbacks, it is a great place to work for those who enjoy: Extreme Micro Management, Intimidation, Unpaid Hours, being Set Up to Fail, and Abuse. And it IS a Temporary Pay Check for those desperate enough to tolerate being shown how worthless you really are so maybe that helps too. Unfortunately, almost every Manager and/or Adjuster I knew over the years is no longer there.... IF that tells you something. And I know my days are numbered as well. I have over 15 years of claims experience...

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
