This position gained exposure to a variety of accounting, SOX, and internal control processes. Standard accounting cycle: month end, reconciliations, with special projects sprinkled throughout the year.
Cons
Too much unpaid overtime. We worked at minimum one weekend a month during month end close. Month end close requires anywhere from 2-4 12 hour days in a row. Nearly impossible to complete work load in a standard 40-45 hour week. Do not recommend this position for anyone with a family. Pay and benefits not competitive with other companies in Nashville. High turnover in the department, including accounting leadership. Management did not conduct employee evaluations or provide feedback. There are poor training opportunities for new employees or current employees learning new tasks. Company did not offer financial incentives to my coworker for taking the CPA exam.
