Pros

- Breakfast is provided - Company covers personal development up to $2000 - Lessons called "fail fast" that allow us learn from mistakes we make - We get acknowledged through "kudos" based on performance and successes - The environment is very friendly, lots of great coworkers to work with and to learn from - We work hard, but we play hard. We have lots of fun with each other throughout the day and get a lot of work done. - Transparency - Meritocracy - Empowerment

Cons

- The company’s so called "free" breakfast is taken from the paycheque. - Why cover $2000 in professional development if we’re going to have to pay it back when we leave? Doesn’t make sense. - Fail fast is hardly ever genuine, especially from leadership - real fails are never brought up. - We receive kudos but we don't get bonuses or other real rewards when we do well. - Leadership is verbally abusive and emotional. - Leadership team insists the entire company is present for specific meetings. For example, "flex hours" means everybody has to be at stand up every morning and at demos at the very last hour of Fridays. But they are never there themselves unless they are making some announcement and are required to be there. - Transparency is one-way; leadership hides facts that are inconvenient to them. - Meritocracy means leadership can give themselves promotions and raises but when the company is low on cash, regular employees are decimated. - Empowerment means you are expected to do things without being asked but if you ask for assistance, you get spoken down to and treated like an idiot.

TribalScale Response

Hi there, thank you for the feedback. In response to some of your feedback, we hope to clarify some of the pain points you brought up: Breakfast: We charge a minimal amount as required for tax purposes to ensure this is not considered a taxable benefit to employees. Professional Development: It’s true, we cover up to $2000 per year for professional development. We see it as a great way to invest in our employees, which in turn, invest in ourselves. We do expect the employee to remain for a period of time to earn that credit. This is a very standard policy and expectation across many organizations. FailFast/Kudos: We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t get the most out of our failfast and kudos. They are meant as a tool for the whole company to use for self improvement and provide an ability to step-up, without expecting rewards. Leadership: Our leadership team values the input of all its employees. We have incorporated several ways for our employees to get face time and transparency with anyone from our leadership team. This includes lunch sessions with them, Q&A sessions, and the ability to book directly into their calendars. As with any rapidly growing company, we are doing our best, but change can be hard and we are continuously working to improve on many fronts.

Pros

People were nice and kind and the location was convenient for the subway

Cons

It's consulting work: mostly about the marketing rather than any quality of engineering. Pair programming sucks and is half as effective.
