Decent pay, consistent hours, overtime available, but monotonous and physically draining. - Lawn Specialist TruGreen Employee Review

Pros

Consistently worked 45-50 hours for a weekly paycheck so cash was always available. Pretty simple work if you can handle the physical stress. You can make a 15% commission on any sales of upgraded services to existing customers or sales to new customers (mostly neighbors of existing customers). I never put in much effort in the sales department because I worked another job and didn't need the extra commission money but I could see someone adding 30-40% to their paycheck every week by working at sales.

Cons

Training left a lot to be desired. Was entirely focused on techniques and logistical process. No training provided in terms of diagnosing a problem in a lawn or solving an issue. I often found myself not knowing what to tell my customers so I'd take a picture, show it to a service manager, then call back the customer. Can't imagine I instilled a lot of confidence in those customers. Your work experience also depends a LOT on the specific branch you're working out of. We rarely worked a Saturday at my branch but the other branch in the city worked over half of them. I'm told it's almost entirely due to the branch GM's ability to budget work for the week properly. So it's quite the roll of the dice if working Saturdays is a deal breaker for you.

Pros

- Very very easy to move up in the company. If you dedicate a couple years and show skill in sales you can move up to a sales manager position extremely fast. If you are willing to move the opportunity to move up is even significantly easier and faster. - Almost all of management started at the bottom and worked their way up, if possible they always hire from within. - Good money, get out what you put in. - Direct Management is great, local and even regional management is almost even fantastic, but any higher then that becomes out of touch and very frustrating to (albeit indirectly) work with.

Cons

- Inconsistent at times about expectations, at times asking for one thing then immediately needing the other. Can be frustrated to be pulled in so many directions, but not even remotely unmanageable. - Lot's of hours, especially in management. Prime time? (March-End of May) Say goodbye to your personal life! Mandatory 1/2 day Saturdays, definitely a grind but worth it. - Frustrating policies and illogical outlook on what success looks like.
