Pros

The benefits are very good. The ability to work outside and not be cooped up in an office all day. A job that will definitely keep you in shape.

Cons

Where do I start? I worked for this company for just under two years. At first I really liked it. The ability to being outside all day was a huge perk. For the most part, I really enjoyed my first year, although it certainly beat my body down since it was such hard work. Year two was completely different, and I quickly discovered just how bad TruGreen really is. First, they work you like a dog with no respect for the lawn techs. You work in 90 degree temps and the pouring rain. Luckily I had A/C in my truck but the majority of the trucks don't. Their sales team blows, consistently undercutting the size of the lawns just to sign new customers up, which puts a massive strain on the techs when properties are undercut by as much as 10K feet. They claim their products are safe, but walking around in that toxic sludge all day is terrible for you're health, and the products are cheap and don't work anyway. They don't have rider spreaders which do a much better job than TruGreen's lame spray applications. The hourly pay is also pretty low as well. The rule that you have to knock on customers doors first is also stupid. My main reason I hated the job so much, sales! Why do the lawn techs have to make sales? Isn't that why they got sales guys? The branch I worked at, the general manager had zero respect for the techs. He would sit in his office all day sending nasty messages to the techs about how there is no excuse not to get the job done. This guy NEVER was a tech, so for him to tell us the job was easy and to get it done was a slap in the face. If you don't make sales, they don't like you, and they try to put you in call blocks and are forced to call customers to make sales. Again, isn't that why they have a sales team? They encourage techs to do as quick as a job possible on customers lawns in order to knock on neighbors doors and make sales. Everything about TruGreen is terrible! Management simply don't care!
