Pros
Has provided a great work life balance since the pandemic, allowing employees to work from home. My work life balance has been great due to this for the last 4-5 years. Past opportunities to move within the company were great. I’m happy in my current role so I have not looked outside my business line for other positions.
Cons
The bank is now pivoting their work from home to mandatory 3 days/week in office. For people who don’t have a mode of transportation, and having to now buy a car to come into the office, disrupt my life at home and pay extra for other necessities while I’m not home. The bank won’t pay for this. They won’t increase compensation for this either. I see how this move would be good for many business lines within the company, but not every business line is necessary to be in the office when the whole group is divided throughout the country. I feel their plan on this is a “soft-layoff”, people are not going to want to go back into the office and will then quit. They have made it clear they do not care if you leave, either. Super great, U.S. Bank. Great way to treat employees. Let’s hope they figure this out and reevaluate within a few months. If you were hired on your current role as home-based, it does not matter, they want you in the office for no apparent reason.
