Pros
With the exception of one, all of the managers I have had here have been supportive. I have been fortunate with the co-workers I have been placed with, because they have been really fun and helpful. The environment is more lax than a lot of other work places, but I assume that is because the work can be so stressful.
Cons
There is currently a lack of a really good training program. Each position I have held was "sink or swim" which is really frustrating. Communication is generally poor, BUT the owners' kids (who have essentially taken over) are now communicating where we stand which had not been done previously. The compensation is sub-par. They have jobs that only pay half time for over time that aren't exempt salary jobs, which doesn't seem right. There is no matching for 401K and the medical benefits are expensive. I can't not talk about the upper management. It does seem very true that it is more about who you know rather than what you know in many of the departments.
