Pros

* Easy for entry level jobs * Lots of opportunities to learn about healthcare and help patients * Good benefits * Gifts for Christmas and New Year

Cons

* Worst team dynamics, zero team building activities. Had to face a lot of negativity while recommending new work flows * Pay not competitive or justifies work you do * Almost all depts in Pediatrics are always short staffed and very high employee turn around * Micro managers and no scope for growth(Mgr checking ehr inbox w/out your permission) * Surveys are sent for employee feedback but hardly any action is taken * Skip level meetings don't exist at all * Groups that have worked together in the same team for a long time make change hard and never have an open mind towards new team members * No career paths for admin staff

Pros

Being in the UCSF organization for 25 plus years I am grateful for every colleagues/bosses/and friendships I meet and gratitude for the organization to train and development me with open arms. I could tell you, it wasn't easy for the first 6 months on the job being work in the corporate world. There are many opportunity within the organization if you want to explore.

Cons

The current retirement system is not so great and the pay is slow moving pace because being an Administrative Assistant position your automatically part of a Union.

Pros

The people that work at UCSF are some of the most intelligent analysts I've ever worked with in 15 years of Health IT. Most are ex-Epic employees with strong backgrounds in project managament and IT,

Cons

UCSF recently decided to reclassify all remote employees as "Felxible" without their input or permission. As a result, employees must now travel to the office WITHOUT expenses paid. This means that flights, hotels, etc. are NOT reimbursed and are paid by the employee. UCSF has not answered to what problem they are trying to solve with this, and refuses to answer how this action aligns with goals such as sustainability (carbon emissions), equity (women and disabled are more impacted by eliminating remote work), working accommodating (UCSF does not have the physical space for all of the Clinical Systems department to be on site. There is no locked storage or accessible workspaces.), safety (there is no shuttle for UCSF to all locations that have been mentioned for work). UCSF limits employee growth, by eliminating actual promotions with "role based work". In other words, you have to do more work without compensation for it. They have also completely reneged on remote management, meaning that most employees are now at a dead end.
