Pros
Healthcare is an exciting field with a lot of opportunities to move laterally or up. If you have the right manager who cares about your job experience and satisfaction and walks their talk, it is gold. The healthcare benefits have been fantastic although they are changing now in 2025 as the system becomes a corporation.
Cons
Leadership is so stressed they don’t invest in individual managers the way they used to. It used to be a very personal company like a family even though it was large you knew lots of people and they were supportive of each other. This has changed radically over the last three years or so. All the leadership we interacted with had become jaded and stressed. Communication suffered and there was a lack of transparency. Favorited were protected and promoted. Leaders hired people they were lifelong friends with and protected them over everyone else. There were executives who did not treat people well for several years but were kept on because they got job results but they were unpopular. Trust wore down. It broke down high performing employees. Lots of good people left in the last couple of years and it’s not the same as it used to be.
