Pros

- Coworkers are very helpful and friendly. - Opportunities for travel, across the U.S. and internationally. - Flexible schedule, ability to work from home, not much pressure beginning of the month or quarter.

Cons

- Management at local offices is a good old boys club. Promotion is based on who you go drinking with. People were told straight up that to get promoted to management, they need to hang out outside office hours with the right people. - Ambiguous performance reviews and promotions. Not based on work output. Managers can twist ratings to promote their friends (based on first con). - Salary trajectory for newer employees isn't very good. Very top heavy company, with many older workers who pull in high salary, but don't do much work. This hurts younger employees since pot for raises goes improportionately to older employees. Younger employees can be doing the same work as older employees at even better quality, but still get paid half their salary. - Layoffs about every two years. Company always saying budget is short, and starts laying off people or entire departments. However, ridiculous bonus system still pays upper management half their salary as bonus every year. - Raises do not keep up with industry. - Many people in management are related to one another. Will see relatives of managers get promoted quickly. Internal job openings go to relatives of managers if they apply for it.

Pros

The work is interesting. Some decent travel is available if desired. If you work hard and set yourself apart from others you can earn a promotion.

Cons

It’s all about who you know. All responsibilities fall on Engineering. Engineering does much more than “engineer” and spend too much time on stuff that admin staff “should be able” to do. When something needs to change the usual solution is to have Engineers be responsible for it because many non-engineers can’t handle mediocre tasks.
