Pros

You can literally sleep walk through the day, in a zombie like state and do your job good enough to keep it if that's all u want. You don't have to care, because no one else does either.

Cons

Where to begin. Cronyism / quasi nepotistic hiring and promotion practices. Period. Every knows it. If u aren't a chosen one, regardless of your resume and current performance / qualifications and initiative, then you will not be promoted or even make a lateral move. You will not even be considered seriously because they have already chosen someone to allow into such positions and they are typically young and highly inexperienced or a good Ole boy. UL acquired CTL a little over a year ago and the transition has been a complete disaster. We are now a second class pile of dog crap in comparison to real UL. We also are not getting paid in the same level as UL. Current upper management is completely inept in more ways than I could describe. To make it worse, they are also at the mercy of a hands off UL management team and the results of this are obvious to anyone with half a brain. Working conditions in this lab are very poor. Poor air quality, leaking roof, trashed looking, disgusting bathrooms, stained carpets.. I could go on and on. It's a joke they call this dump a lab. It's embarrassing. Best thing that could ever happen here is an F5 tornado leveling it. The I have been here a number of years and its long overdue time for me to leave. Sadly, we could spend hours describing the problems here and what really needs to change but the reality is that no one cares. Period. Oh and wheres my raise we were promised UL???? Good christ.

Pros

WFH policy and great coworkers.

Cons

Role eliminated while executives and higher-ups spend ridiculous amounts of money on travel to "conferences", while transitioning the team to all contract/external employees to alleviate "budgeting" costs. Leaders continue to appease to higher-ups and C-level executives without a care or understanding of current team dynamics to protect themselves in a cutthroat and toxic environment filled with corporate politics. 0 growth for internal designers at below market salaries (20-25%) and below average benefits- when mentioned to leaders, profits are increasing YOY, yet the discussion becomes a "let's circle back" while 10+ contractors are immediately brought on board.
