Pros
The benefits are great. UMC has their own health insuranc. The retirement is good. They match whatever I have put in. Extended illness can be used if your sick more than 3 days. PTO is good and twice a year you can sell it back at your base salary. There is also a Christmas bonus. Depending on how well the hospital is doing, they provide a certain number of hours plus the number of years you've been working (loyalty hours). For example, last year it was 21 hours plus loyalty hours.
Cons
The politics. Too much emphasis on appearance and less on the job itself. Sometimes, it feels oppressive and I don't trust anyone beyond my shift supervisor or outside my shift. The shift differential is pretty much nonexistent for my job. $.40 for 3rd shift.
