      Global presence, global approach to industry.

      Cons

      Hubris on the part of Finnish managment. Assume that best practices in Europe would also apply to North America without alloting for customer and employee preferences. Some management team members are in over their head.

      Pros

      Teams in North America are the hardest working individuals. They have incredible talent and are extremely supportive.

      Cons

      Every part of UPM is controlled and ran by management in Europe. This means that the teams in other regions are stifled, siloed, and become stagnant. This alienates innovation and process improvement, perpetuating an atmosphere where talent cannot be maintained or grow.
