Pros

It depends on the person, job, outlook on service and situation. The military IS NOT for everyone but for the people it IS for it can be a wonderful experience. It provides stability, training, food, shelter, all expense paid vacations to some really interesting areas where you will get to experience different cultures, people, locations (some awesome...some maybe less so). Sure, you will get specialized training in your specific job area but you will additionally gain extremely valuable skills in leadership, management, discipline, project and program management, tons of soft skills and so very much more. If you are looking for a change, looking for a challenge, looking for structure, looking to better yourself and your future self...I highly recommend considering it.

Cons

It is military service. It can have long hours. It can have less than ideal locations depending on personal outlook, some of the vacation spots are a little dry and dusty but they can still be fun. The hardest thing for some of the younger generation coming up is assimilating into the military life. Once you join you are no longer a civilian. You are, and should be, held to a higher standard. There are values that must be upheld. You are a representative of the U.S. Military, USAF and the United States of America. This is something bigger than you. You become someone and something bigger than you can imagine at the time...this is a hard concept for many to understand. It is worth it...if you are strong enough.

Pros

Teaches you a trade while paying you. Social appreciation. Purpose. If you have no idea what you want to do with your life especially as far as a career goes, run to a recruiter. Regardless of whereever you come from a military career is your stepping stone into middle class and up living and career opportunity.

Cons

Every extra dollar you attempt to make beyond your rank will require more work than you will be paid to do. The real payoff monetarily you get from competing in the military will come in to play during your post life. Confidence, courage, accountability, etc are not standard attributes in people at all.
