There is more responsibility bestowed to you as compared to a similar position outside of the military, and a higher frequency of interaction with people from all walks of life. You will have once in a lifetime experiences. The amount of job satisfaction at times is immeasurable.
Cons
Career progression is the name of the game. It's still very much an up or out system, which fosters leadership that is just plain awful.
