Pros

Mission focus and comraderie with those who share similar views; a great feature I like about the US Army is the trust and immediate acceptance Soldiers share - they create common bonds that quickly bind individuals into a cohesive teams; While the US Army places many demands on both the individual and their families, the benefits and opportunities are definitely worth the investment and outweigh the temporary downsides that can occur from time to time

Cons

Time away from family, moving frequently and leaving jobs just as one masters the position; predictability of work schedule, deployments and unforecasted "overtime" is generally manageble but can peak at times based on a units OPTEMPO

The sense of mission and belonging is unmatched. I was part of something bigger than a bottom line.

Cons

Cons: Work-life balance can be a real challenge, especially at junior enlisted ranks and during deployments — the Army's needs always come first, and your personal schedule is secondary to the mission. Frequent PCS (Permanent Change of Station) moves can strain family stability and make long-term community roots difficult to maintain. Bureaucracy and slow institutional change can be frustrating, particularly when you can clearly see a better way to accomplish a task.
