Pros

I met a diverse group of individuals in my own community. Drove less than a mile each workday. Excersise and hours according to my schedule. I enjoyed my conversations with a majority of people who I probably never would have met otherwise. I learned a great deal about who lives nearby and wished there were more homes that failed to send in the census so I could have earned more income. It was a short term job that I would definitely apply for if the opportunity was available.

Cons

THE MONEY I HAD HOPED TO EARN WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE ACTUAL PAYCHECK EACH WK AND THE LIMITED AMOUNT OF WORK GIVEN WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT AND YOU COULD NOT WORK AROUND THOSE BARRIERS..I imagined at the beginning of this job the income I woud earn ea wk. and looked forward to a few months of $$ to pay all my debts off. !! WRONG! I didnt factor in the situations of what my employment actually had so many time limits as well as amount of homes to visit were not as many that I hoped for. 1. People weren't home during weekdays due to working so from 5pm until about 8pm before it gets dark. 2. Weekends were the best time for ppl to be home, but when you complete most interviews your list grows shorter ea. wk and you have maybe 5 homes left to visit. 3.you had to wait until the list you were assigned was complete before another block of addresses were assigned. So those 5 homes you keep on going back (not everyday) AND... sometimes you had just a few never at home addresses and you cant keep knocking or you end up looking like a stalker. SO THE SALARY IS NOT WHAT IT LEADS YOU TO BELIEVE AND TRULY A DISAPPOINTMENT AT LEAST FOR ME. BUT THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO TO EARN MORE. I believe living in a more densely populated area is an advantage where more non responsive homes would be an advantage for this job. When they fail to mail in the census form and then your visit earns your paycheck. Some residents get irate and refuse to give personal information and others viewed me as a door to door salesperson. The homes that had quite a few individuals residing together took alot longer to gather info about each one. Some tried to conceal the total of ppl as they were in fear of deportation or landlord eviction. I vowed to keep my word and not reveal any confidential info and am bound by my sworn promise. As you can tell I like to talk and talk...

I worked as a enumerator manager and it was fun work! My employees were fun and my managers were knowledgeable.

It would've been nice to still offer PPE.

Pros

Worthwhile work to benefit the city you are working in. Most everyone I worked with was pretty nice and willing to lend a hand if needed. But I feel like I saw the other side of how upper management treats people they don't like as much and i saw aspects that weren't as good through upper managements treatment of others.

Cons

Constantly changing directives from upper management. And they don't have your back when you get questioned why you followed the most recent order from your boss. Inconsistent pay scales by position. Pay varies by location. But they don't adjust it upward. If you hire on in a city that pays less, you don't get a bump if you stay with the company and work in a new city that pays better in your next assignment. Meaning new hires with no experience can easily make more than you because they started in the city that pays more. One of my best employees was paid the least. I felt bad and tried to get their rate adjusted with no luck. It very much has the vibe of they are figuring out things as they go, The department is grossly understaffed. Technology is lacking creating inefficiencies.
