Pros
The people in this agency are extremely dedicated. Management in general is very good with a few exceptions. The agency is pretty good about not moving agents around too much. In general if you start the job in one office you can remain there unless you are a supervisor and then you are more likely to be moved. The case work is very good in most groups. You are given alot of freedom to run your cases the way you think they should be run.
Cons
Starting pay is a weak compared to the same job at other agencies ie: ATF, FBI, but after a few years it levels out. New agents can potentially start at a GS 5 when other agencies with 1811's (special agents) start at the GS 9 or 10 level. There has been heavy turnover in recent years resulting in a lack of experienced agents to guide the newer agents. The equipment is sub par. The vehicles and electronic equipment are antiques, they are carry overs from the two legacy agencies which formed ICE, US Customs and INS.
