Pros

Positive work culture, compensation package, and standard benefits (including comprehensive health insurance). There are also great internal training programs and learning opportunities available to employees

Cons

For FTEs, Zero job security when a project finishes. Even if you are a top performer, HR and management do not assist with internal remapping to other open positions. Instead, you are handed a termination notice as soon as a project ends, completely ignoring available vacancies within the company or opportunities to replace underperforming staff. For Contractors: Extremely low job security and volatile hiring practices. The company frequently recruits contractors only to release them within two months on a single day’s notice once immediate needs change.

Transitions between projects can be a challenging time. At the same time, USsociates are provided visibility into internal opportunities through the Workforce Management team and internal job postings amongst others— all aimed at enabling talent redeployment and career continuity. Contractors are typically engaged for specific opportunities aligned to client needs. While we make efforts to explore redeployment options at the end of an engagement, these outcomes can depend on project requirements, timing, and available roles. I have been associated with UST for almost 12 years, starting my journey as a Tester and currently serving as a Senior Project Manager. I have had opportunities to work across different domains, engage with global clients, and grow both technically and managerially. What makes UST special is the trust it places in its employees and the collaborative culture that exists across teams.
