Pros

They pay better than average, but it comes with often impossible expectations for performance.

Cons

UMA is the epitome of a for-profit school that cares more about profits and revenue than their students and employees. UMA manipulates numbers and plays games to achieve regulatory and accreditation requirements. The corporate culture is terrible. I have never worked in such a dysfunctional work environment with near constant employee churn. Over 70% of the leadership team won't last longer than a year.

Pros

Overtime available, when need it

Cons

The work environment was highly scripted, making it difficult to build genuine rapport with prospective students. Employees were expected to follow approved scripts very closely, and even small deviations could be treated as compliance issues. At the same time, compliance expectations were not always clearly communicated, which created unnecessary stress. Management felt overly focused on micromanagement, contributing to a high-pressure work environment. During my time there, I also heard a prospective student comment on what they perceived as a lack of diversity within the organization, which stood out to me. Overall, I found the culture stressful and inflexible. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this employer to those looking for a supportive workplace with clear expectations and the flexibility to communicate authentically.
