Pros
UncommonGoods is unique in the sense that the number one goal for the company is to be its employees favorite place to work. This is seen in company benefits such as discounted Metrocards, a stipend for bike maintenance, tuition reimbursement for college and grad school, company lunches, and a base hourly wage that is almost double the New York State minimum wage. With all the perks set aside, there is something to be said for the company CEO and COO. You can tell that these two people greatly care about their employees, the company's impact on the environment, and their customers. Having worked for multiple ecommerce companies in New York, I can honestly say that UncommonGoods has the best executive leadership in the city. It doesn't matter if you are a picker in the warehouse or a director of a department. All employees are treated like family. It's a great place to be.
Cons
The hiring process can take a while. I applied for my role in April and was not hired until August. Be prepared to go through multiple interviews. Part of the reason the process is so long is to make sure that you will be a good fit for both the company and for the role that you are taking on.
