Pros
Great individual development, but not for the faint of heart. I was much more open to criticism to start, but after a couple years, all the 1-1 time with my Instructional Lead started to feel unnecessarily demeaning. Wonderful relationships with many students. Kids were awesome, but some sadly knew how stressed teachers were and felt pity. Maybe they were nicer because of that. Staff was ok. If you love chugging "the juice" and becoming mildly automated in front of kids and during PD, by all means..
Cons
I mixed in some cons above. The point is, don't expect much of a life in NYC/NJ at an Uncommon school, especially your first year. Relay GSE...make sure you know what this is and if you don't have a masters coming in, ask lots of questions about this program. Along with all the certification exams, I found this extremely tiring and stressful to handle. The all around burn-out culture among staff just became too depressing to stick around.
