Their cause is noble, pay is good and benefits are good. Some facilities are brand new and state of the art.
Cons
No work life balance. You will be there from 6:30am until 8pm and still be expected to do work at home. Forced to come into meetings some mornings before 7am, only get 2 short preps that are usually utilized by your leader for meetings about the things you are doing wrong. They will beat you down until you lose all confidence in yourself and your abilities. Also they lie when they advertise more days off than the DOE. You actually get almost 3 weeks less time off in total. Also students are beaten down to the point where by 3rd or 4th grade they are exhausted. They get no time to play and socialize they are working from 7-4 non stop. That will not close the achievement gap that will create non-social living calculators that stay silent and follow orders. They also only care about standardized tests so if you teach a subject that doesn't have one be prepared to get no help, assistance, or support.
