Pros

Children learn a lot

Cons

Cult environment Teachers have no lives, no breaks, no prep periods, you're expected to be accessible at all times even weekends Leaders send emails in the wee hours of the morning They require you to go to a fake school to get your teaching certification and the professors consist of non-certified teachers from their elementary schools Leadership consists of a mean girl clique it's quite disturbing As a teacher you will work 12-14 hour days They claim to be one unified school but every school is doing things differently everyone is confused Taking sick or personal days is frowned upon even if you are sick or have personal emergency They take fresh college grads out of Teach for America toss 55k in their face and then slave and haze them. Some quit but most stick with it because of the two year commitment. Don't let this happen to you.

Pros

Uncommon Schools is a really positive, warm environment. People work hard and have tons of joy in their collaboration!

Cons

We are growing quickly, so the work load is busy! This isn't really a con, just something for new folks to be aware of :)
