Pros

Good sales training and ongoing training available for tenured employees

Cons

I was hired and fired within 6 weeks of employment. I was told I wasn’t the right fit for the role and that I would end up drowning in it. I started with some background in sales so I wasn’t completely a newbie but felt disrespected of my time to be hired and fired so quickly. The company has a training period where you learn all the scripts of what to say to prospects. The whole training is essentially built around stealing competitors business (that I won’t name based on confidentiality but go figure) and shaming them for their service. Upon getting hired I started learning all the scripts because they have an exam based on the all the scripts you learn. I still didn’t have my sales certification exam for a few more weeks before I got fired. Seems like a cutthroat industry and claim not to be while promising it’s a family oriented business. I was told by a rep that the competitors will price gouge and that Unifirst will steal business because of that and then later price gouge as well. It’s unethical to do that. Local businesses work hard to have what they have for a corporation to be profiting on them from ancillary charges. I don’t recommend anyone to even bother going to an interview for the sales department. It’s the worst one with apparent high turnover and I believe it’s due to management and compensation. Also in a business where contracts is the nature of it, expect to wait years to get a sale.

Pros

Upper management genuinely cares about their team, and the hiring process is simple and straightforward. Base pay and the monthly stipend are both fair, and I appreciate the company's structure — questions get answered quickly, and you have dedicated team member support. I also like that the role is self-managing, with CDR handling pricing and deal structuring so you can focus on your own performance. Overall, this company really takes care of its employees.

Cons

The pay structure for this role is a bit unique — after a sale closes, the CDR earns commission for the first few months, and then commission transitions over to the drive team. It's certainly not a deal-breaker, just an observation, and I'm not knocking the company for it. All in all, I had a wonderful experience at UniFirst.
