Pros

Everything is great in the first year - aka as your 'ramp up bonus'. Then, if you're a sales rep for UniFirst, get ready to get fired. If you actually make it through your first year, when I left I had seen at least 10 people or more get fired or quit for one reason or the other. Most likely because they put un-real expectations on you as a sales rep and do not encourage employment by a sales rep over a year. By that time you've not only paid for yourself, you've also added a lot to the RSR's route which they receive a commission on. There was poor service, poor comradery, poor management, poor service, etc from the branch where I worked. If you're looking for a company to grow with, unless you are willing to relocate geographically, then look elsewhere.

Cons

Where to start... At the end of the day, just about everything. It all starts and ends with the competency of your location manager. unrealistic expectations for tenured reps, extremely low vacation and sick time given, long days in your car, wear and tear on your car and your physical and mental well-being. Lying by management, poor service, poor everything. The worst part is that management knows from day one that you will most likely not make it there 52 weeks. If you do make it 52 weeks then you are expected to turn in 1 folder per week worth $110 every week.. If either of those cease to happen then you have NO chance in making it. If you are able to hit 1) bringing in a folder every week & 2) having the value average out at $110 / wk then you should go somewhere else.

Pros

Upper management genuinely cares about their team, and the hiring process is simple and straightforward. Base pay and the monthly stipend are both fair, and I appreciate the company's structure — questions get answered quickly, and you have dedicated team member support. I also like that the role is self-managing, with CDR handling pricing and deal structuring so you can focus on your own performance. Overall, this company really takes care of its employees.

Cons

The pay structure for this role is a bit unique — after a sale closes, the CDR earns commission for the first few months, and then commission transitions over to the drive team. It's certainly not a deal-breaker, just an observation, and I'm not knocking the company for it. All in all, I had a wonderful experience at UniFirst.
