Pros

Pay is good and you have opportunity to make more. You can push direct sales and when you have free time swing in a business near your stop to try and get sales leads. I used to try to hit at least one business once a week. Benefits were a shock after working Govt job, feel they could be better. No micro managing at my location, but I also do what I’m supposed to so don’t need a baby sitter.

Cons

Here we go. I leave the plant at 430 AM, but you can leave anytime before 6 at my location. My longest day I’m home by 330. The Plant is my biggest issue. You have to check your load in the afternoons to make sure you have your items and have the correct amount. My Plant Manager will work out rags until they are falling apart and doesn’t order new ones to keep money for the budget, even though we charge every customer a materials maintenance and Replacement fee each week. The Carts are falling apart and the wheels don’t roll, which makes rolling them onto your truck a pain in the A. The plant will pull out uniforms to replace and not say anything and it takes weeks for new uniforms to get in. Customers get mad when they are short 4 shirts and being charged for 11 and having to wash some to have enough for the week. There’s a ton of hidden little fees each week in the bill, and they don’t let customers know about protection fees, so they get hit with insane extra charged for loss or replacement. They are 100% profit drive. Profit growth is all that matters. They judge the drivers on retention, but 9 times out of 10 the issues with lost accounts is because of the greed and the poor quality of merchandise. And when anything goes wrong, my plant seems to double down on blaming the drivers for everything so be prepared to be treated like you are the problem, even if doing your job.

Pros

Upper management genuinely cares about their team, and the hiring process is simple and straightforward. Base pay and the monthly stipend are both fair, and I appreciate the company's structure — questions get answered quickly, and you have dedicated team member support. I also like that the role is self-managing, with CDR handling pricing and deal structuring so you can focus on your own performance. Overall, this company really takes care of its employees.

Cons

The pay structure for this role is a bit unique — after a sale closes, the CDR earns commission for the first few months, and then commission transitions over to the drive team. It's certainly not a deal-breaker, just an observation, and I'm not knocking the company for it. All in all, I had a wonderful experience at UniFirst.
