Pros

Great managers, agile work environment, opportunities to gain technical and cross functional experience. Great benefits and the people are stellar.

Cons

Going global has reduced the roles for technical opportunities in North America. New processes are not in place and the overwhelming trend is do what we say don't question. There is no dialogue to address local concerns or markets. Working agile now means working 24/7 to support all regions and although managers understand this, at the VP and SVP level they question why no one is in the office during a snow storm. The leadership team is primarily white males and it is ruled without a heart or sense of family. They are fortunate that the day to day managers have the heart to retain what talent they can.

Pros

Hard to find any pros now... nice new office with a view, Good products. Company store. Good stamp on the resume (I guess).

Cons

UL has lost its way. Used to be an exceptional company when it fundamentally was ethical, environmental and prioritized Customer and employee service. Its now clear that the company is being milked by the board for money. Layoffs, sketchy financial activity, disconnected leadership structures with no feedback loops. Office politics are rampant and you cant get promoted, UL creates their own "glass ceiling" to limit promotions. Multiple divestitures over the past years.
