Pros

Absolute schedule flexibility and once you are hired, no status change as long as you work one school day per year

Cons

You receive absolutely NO benefits, no matter how much you work. This system practices site based administration, so the school administrator can block anyone from working in their school without divulging a reason. I thought Mr. Trump signed an executive order revoking all AHCA work penalties, but so far, to avoid paying for our healthcare, UCPS limits us to no more than 29 hours/wk or 120 hours/mo.

Pros

Summers off, if you have kids you have Christmas, new years, and spring break off to spend with them. Your official workday ends at 3:05pm although grading, printing, planning can run past that if needed. If you are a BT (in specific core subjects), Union county has a program that will fund and pay for your certificate as long as you work in unio county a certain amount of years and maintain a certain gpa. Wish they offered assistance with a masters but I have not found any at this time.

Cons

Not steady on what you teach, once your comfortable with a class they switch you to teaching something else in the same field which requires new panning, worksheets, learning lessons you haven't seen in a while. would be nice to stick to one class especially once your organized and have yourself set up for success. some plan paper worksheets, online assignments, canvas, etc. So Switching the class I can no longer use any of the material i have purchased. Pay could be higher but we all know this accepting a job as a teacher prior so that's kind of on us. But higher annual raises would be beneficial instead of $75-$100 max a month. Healthcare also just went up. Granted it was only a 10-15 change but still. Dental and vision are on the higher side through a company that i've seen so keeping medical at the 25/50 option would have been nice in my opinion instead of around 35/60-65. It made me drop mine from the higher plan to the lower plan.
