Pros

Decent pay and good retirement.

Cons

Being a road conductor you have no home life. The company expects you to be available 24/7 and with their new attendance policy you are only allowed off one day a month. Any more than that and you are pulled out of service. I would not leave any job to come to this horrible place. There is a reason Union Pacific was rated as the third worst place to work in the country.

Pros

There are several pros working for Union Pacific. Pros are the pay, union membership, and opportunities to travel

Cons

Cons are also Travel. The shift I am on you are supposed to be gone for eight d ays and home for six. But it actually translates into gone for 9 1/2 days by the time you include your travel days which put you only home for 4 to 4 1/2 days every 14 days.
