USHG: Competitive Benefits, But Lower Pay Than Many NY Restaurants - Bartender Union Square Hospitality Group Employee Review

Pros

The benefits are highly competitive and low cost. The best medical, dental, vision, and even mental health benefits you can find in this industry. There are even plans for family coverage. As well, you are offered transit benefits, which are reduced from your pay pretax and stored on a debit card, essentially reducing your transit expenses by 30%

Cons

For the number of hours you may work, and for the spread of hours you are often scheduled (sometimes two double shifts in two consecutive days, for example), you do not receive as much pay as can be expected from other restaurants in NYC. This lower pay may be worth it when you consider the incredible value of the benefits you get through USHG, but your mileage may vary.

Pros

Great culture and community, Very supportive and willing to have meaningful conversations.

Cons

It's really hard to grow. Lots of outside employment and a lack of internal promotions. Also lack of communication between departments.
