Pros

Benefits are good (3 Health Plans: $600, $1500, $2700 deductibles, Accident Insurance, Personal Injury Insurance, 7x Life insurance, free care (after deductible met) at any UHS Facility, EAP, etc) Offers tuition assistance (Strings attached, see Cons) Good experience as far as working in psych

Cons

These downsides are specific to Sandy Pines Hospital which is part of UHS's network of hospitals. -Places profits over people: Will accept particularly difficult cases that the hospital is not equipped to handle and keep cases longer than necessary putting staff and patients at risk. -Works employees harder than necessary with no additional compensation: Have observed several staff members pick up slack and take care of things outside of their job description in addition to their normal responsibilities. When they asked for additional compensation they were denied. If they complained about being denied additional compensation they were ignored. Tuition assistance: While the tuition assistance is nice, it does come with a string attached. If you choose to accept the tuition assistance you must stay employed with Sandy Pines/UHS for two years after completion of your degree or pay back the full amount of the assistance.

Pros

Overtime, Overtime, Overtime, Overtime, Overtime

Cons

Staffing turn around sucks because they can’t keep a certified nursing officer and the one they hired is on a high horse, favors staff and fires those he doesn’t favor when an opportunity arises. The dayshift supervisors also have favoritism and certain dayshift staff gets treated like gold and whatever they want compared to other shifts. Nursing management takes vacations to get away from admin and the CNOs wrath. And to top it off they fire staff for dumb reasons like asking to work a different unit for a break or having staff react to trauma of being assaulted by a patient. Staff gets abused here and admin doesn’t do a damn thing to correct the issue other then let staff go.
