Pros

UHS provides a solid benefit structure for its employees. The ability to have not only affordable health plans, but also receive discount at UHS facilities are a great perk. They also have several other benefits including purchasing power, awards, ect. that assist employees with purchasing items against their paycheck (similar to a cc) as well as receiving discounts similar to one would receive with an AARP or AAA card. The company is also constantly growing and in its focus market provide a wealth of opportunity.

Cons

Ensuring that you are a fit for the company is essential. The MO is to manage to monthly reports rather than strategically planning and executing. This is likely a function of the for profit status, but creates a culture where action plans are constantly changing, ultimately taking the eye off of the ball. The company culture is not collaborative nor flexible with its individual markets. The company divisions live in silos whereby there is little information exchange, or even acknowledgement of cross-divisional leadership (except for acute care). Despite building on a foundation of behavioral care, the acute division rules the company culture.

Pros

Overtime, Overtime, Overtime, Overtime, Overtime

Cons

Staffing turn around sucks because they can’t keep a certified nursing officer and the one they hired is on a high horse, favors staff and fires those he doesn’t favor when an opportunity arises. The dayshift supervisors also have favoritism and certain dayshift staff gets treated like gold and whatever they want compared to other shifts. Nursing management takes vacations to get away from admin and the CNOs wrath. And to top it off they fire staff for dumb reasons like asking to work a different unit for a break or having staff react to trauma of being assaulted by a patient. Staff gets abused here and admin doesn’t do a damn thing to correct the issue other then let staff go.
