Pros
Wonderful teaching hospital. Magnet facility, level 1 trauma center and certified stroke center. Patient ratios are better than other health systems in the city & staff always seemed to step in and help each other out when needed.
Cons
Hospital tends to pay less than other health systems in city. Additionally, float pool RNs who are new grads are paid more than experienced floor nurses simply because they are float pool. Many times these new grads can be burdensome to floor due to their inexperience. This is a hard pill to swallow because float pool nurses should be well rounded as they are expected to function in a variety of units. Often, they require assistance and correction which takes time from other staff who have their own patients & issues to contend with.
