Pros
Benefits, free education, strong orientation for new nurses, high quality medical care, endless opportunities to grow and learn. Union dues pay for dental and vision.
Cons
Managers not able or willing to control a bullying back stabbing environments omega managers are part of that environment and foster division among workers. When you first start they hold 5 days of pay and you don't get that money until you end your employment, so it ends up being about a month before you get paid. Some departments employ more traveling nurses than regular staff nurses because word gets around not to worry for those managers, as they do not manage fairly, take little ownership of things when they make mistakes (i.e. blameshift). Things are always about money. No money for anything but somehow upper management has money to have the dining facilities cater all kinds of meetings.
