Pros
Graduate program attached to medical college. Proximity to outdoors activities (woods and lakes). Graduate students don't have to teach courses and can focus on lab work.
Cons
Average time to complete PhD (6.5 years) is well over national average of 5.5 years. Most people I knew took 6.5-7 years, and yet others needed extensions beyond that. Location is awful because of weather, poor housing options nearby. Plow doesn't always come early enough for when you have to go to lab. Major hills around campus are unsafe during inclement weather and theft/assault incidents have increased in occurrence over the years within the University area. Poor public transportation---buses never on time or sometimes don't show at all. Minimal cultural food options in downtown area and Syracuse in general.
