Great place… for toxic positivity and censorship. - Customer Experience Advocate VEG ER for Pets Employee Review

Pros

Will always have open shifts (because they don’t hire sufficient coverage or prepare for call-outs.) More advantageous and “cohesive” … if you’re located on the East Coast. Great place for doctors and new vet grads… significantly less so for any other position. You won’t have to worry about management standing over your shoulder (they’d have to be physically present to do so).

Cons

Must ascribe to “The Manifesto” every moment while present - drink the koolaid or prepared to be targeted. Toxic Positivity is king. Sip it in and do not expresses any negative sentiments because you will be censored and reprimanded. Be prepared for blatant contradictions and double standards among the “team”. Makes many promises in the hiring process and may appear to be ShangriLa… be prepared for that shine to wear off and seem more like a toxic glow. “Work/Life balance”?! Yeah… no. “There for people and their pets when they need it most”… but not their employees. Full benefits may begin from day one but they are lousy. You can try to polish a turd but it’s still a turd. Big bad wolf in sheep’s clothing. -10 out of 5. Hard pass.

Pros

Clients get to stay with their pets-this is so beneficial for helping the patients feel reassured and comforted during their stay.

Cons

The work ethic of the support staff is deplorable. There is chronic laziness throughout the staff (except for a few staff members who consistently work hard). VEG is known for hiring really young DVMs, and although they complete the 1 yr NERD program, many come out unprepared, are practicing medicine without continued mentorship, make grave medical errors, misdiagnose, and are incompetent surgeons.
