Pros

Good pay $$ Off 4 days a week (3/ 12 hr shifts only required) Sometimes no weekends are required Holiday pay Referral program Best CE allowance; nearly unlimited Pays separate stipend for CE travel 10 weeks of full pay of maternity/paternity leave COVID illness pay Family bereavement pay Pet bereavement pay Volunteer day pay "VEGolution day" Allows staff members to take naps if all work is complete and no pending OPs. Hammocks in exam rooms and a private meditation room with comfy couches/ chairs/ blankets. Room for growth for lower-level nursing team members Established and clearly defined nursing levels 1-4, VTS (level 5) with an online program to follow. Pays upfront for assistants to get credentialed (RVT/LVT/CVT) through Penn Foster, reimbursement if gone through outside/physical credentialing vet tech colleges. Once a credentialed technician, you get a 5k bonus (as of 2022)

Cons

Insurance/Benefits are average & could be better considering the size of VEG. Underutilization of nursing team members due to many entry-level doctors, and lots of RVTs being used and treated like assistants. Too many employees on the floor at one time on some shifts No hierarchy established despite what VEG promotes by their role descriptions Hard to get 40 hours and/or any overtime, average hours are 36hr/per week Forces working with others you don't exactly get along well with Required to rotate/change your schedule every 2 months, however, if you prefer overnights, you aren't required to rotate. Sticks to ER only and avoids critical care cases Earn as-you-go PTO Small scrub allowance doesn't cover much when the required VEG embroidery is $60 per scrub set additionally to the cost of the scrubs. No annual performance pay raise, only gave a general $0.99 to every employee.

Pros

The only pro I fell into this place was having the open concept flooring. So clients could actually see what we were doing, and they weren't thinking we were just ignoring them

Cons

Constantly short-staffed, no compassion for their staff. I lost my father during covid. And I needed a little more time my manager at the time was amazing. But she was replaced while I was out by somebody else who had no compassion. It's very cult like i would definitely say that the management at the location I was at was terrible. That they replaced my original manager with all about the money, not really about the pets, as much as they drill it into your head, they say they are

Thank you for sharing your experience and for the time you spent at VEG. We’re happy our open concept design was a positive aspect of your experience, but we’re very sorry you felt unsupported during your time here, especially during such a difficult time in your life. Compassion and support for our VEGgies is incredibly important to us, so your experience with leadership, and staffing is not what we want for our teams. Thank you again for sharing your perspective; feedback like yours helps us continue to grow and improve.
