Pros

Good pay. Perhaps some locations are better run/managed than others. Open concept would be great if the Dr's and staff knew how to treat the patients they are required to see.

Cons

You will be ostracized if you don't drink the kool-aid. You will be bullied if you suggest that there is bullying happening. You are expected to eat, drink, sleep, and breathe VEG. The hospitals social media standing is more important than just about anything. You can be put on probation for "not being VEG like", which means voicing any concerns or suggesting that things aren't perfect. You can be denied training if the hospital isn’t profitable enough to "justify the expense". (So much for valuing their staff!) You will be stopped in the middle of important tasks and required to "huddle" because the Manifesto (gospel according to D. Bessler) is more important than keeping the hospital clean and functional. It was literally some of the worst medicine I've ever seen practiced in 20 years in the business and I regret that it took me months before I walked out mid shift. I was getting yelled at by a new member of management, who had not even had a single conversation with me. (I've never walked off a job before VEG). Working for them was the worst career decision I've ever made. It was also the worst work life balance I've ever had as my schedule got changed constantly, sometimes with less than 24 hrs notice.

While we're happy you felt properly compensated for the valuable work you do and culture is so important to us, so is practicing quality medicine and helping our people be confident amazing ER professionals. This is not the experience we wanted you to have here and even though you don’t work at VEG any longer, we want to make sure others don’t have this experience. If you’d be willing to have a conversation with us, please reach out to stephaniedemars@veg.vet.

Pros

The only pro I fell into this place was having the open concept flooring. So clients could actually see what we were doing, and they weren't thinking we were just ignoring them

Cons

Constantly short-staffed, no compassion for their staff. I lost my father during covid. And I needed a little more time my manager at the time was amazing. But she was replaced while I was out by somebody else who had no compassion. It's very cult like i would definitely say that the management at the location I was at was terrible. That they replaced my original manager with all about the money, not really about the pets, as much as they drill it into your head, they say they are

Thank you for sharing your experience and for the time you spent at VEG. We’re happy our open concept design was a positive aspect of your experience, but we’re very sorry you felt unsupported during your time here, especially during such a difficult time in your life. Compassion and support for our VEGgies is incredibly important to us, so your experience with leadership, and staffing is not what we want for our teams. Thank you again for sharing your perspective; feedback like yours helps us continue to grow and improve.
