Pros

VERY pro-learning, client education and engagement, staff learning and growth, and gold-standard care. Toxicity is looked down upon and called out to ensure a happy and cohesive team. Clear, honest, and open communication is encouraged and supported.

Cons

Sometimes the company can go a little overboard with the positivity mindset into the "toxic positivity" territory, but typically resolved well with clear and open communication. Scheduling can be pretty rough. I was on weekend overnights for my entire time working here, despite requesting changes repeatedly since 6 months into the job, due to serious health complications arising from the body stress of prolonged overnight shifts. I was repeatedly told "just hang in there a little longer" with no visible efforts to help. Loved the job, loved the people, but the schedule was quite literally killing me.

Pros

Clients get to stay with their pets-this is so beneficial for helping the patients feel reassured and comforted during their stay.

Cons

The work ethic of the support staff is deplorable. There is chronic laziness throughout the staff (except for a few staff members who consistently work hard). VEG is known for hiring really young DVMs, and although they complete the 1 yr NERD program, many come out unprepared, are practicing medicine without continued mentorship, make grave medical errors, misdiagnose, and are incompetent surgeons.
