Pros

Solid performing defense / government contractor. Currently in the "small business" category, but expect growth into a medium-sized entity in the near future. Excellent process - especially in core competencies of software development - ISO 9000 / CMMI Level 3. Impressive that a young firm has adopted these recognized methodologies. I won't even address the negative reviews - "not worthy of merit" is a nice way of stating it, "disgruntled, non-performing whiners" might be more appropriate. Exceptional vision as to expanding the customer base - both to new government agencies as well as commercial pursuits. Not resting on their laurels on a few major contract awards. If you are contacted to interview or offered the opportunity to work here - then you've already been identified as a quality candidate and should be able to make the grade. There is no room for "clock punchers" here. The company is too streamlined (keeps the rates down - helps win new business) to afford extraneous positions. They currently pay 100% of medical for the employee - awesome!

Cons

Spurts in growth sometimes accompanied by growing pains. Some legacy processes, i.e., spreadsheets instead of databases, a magnetic in/out board (?) can be frustrating, puzzling and sometimes humorous - but in a good way - obvious signs of rapid growth. It is government contracting, after all.

Pros

Salary was reasonable, and my coworkers were generally fine.

Cons

- No one had clear documentation on how anything was supposed to work, so each day felt like reinventing processes from scratch - Responsibilities were never defined, causing constant confusion about who was accountable for what - Decisions would change without explanation, leaving projects mid-stream with contradictory instructions - Communication between different areas was nonexistent, so duplication and rework happened constantly - No one knew who to ask for direction or approval, which meant projects either stalled or went in wrong decisions
