Pros

Health benefits if you are single. There is a employer contributed HSA. If you have a dependent get ready to pay a ridiculous amount for crappy benefits.

Cons

Other staffing agencies pay better whether you recruit, are in sales or are on the admin side. They’ll try to sell you on a fun culture but behind the scenes it’s no different. Sure there’s the occasional free lunch, being able to expense meals with clients and happy hours but the pay isn’t worth the effort. Work from home flexibility is hard to come by even though 90% of the jobs could be done from home. They’ll sell you on a collaborative team environment where “people have your back” but your own division will screw you over if it gets them an extra dollar in commissions. Their clients hardly ever pay so expect months for getting paid out commissions, sometimes not ever. Training is non existent and just depends how much your team actually helps you. They’ll send you to a formal training at their headquarters but it’s just a drunk fest of partying. If you leave, even on good terms don’t expect any of your commissions. Someone else will claim them on your behalf even if you did all of the work. Just as covid began our CEO announced they would sell the office furniture before they got rid of the employees. Days later, many were laid off due to budget cuts. They formalized their employee advancement process over a year ago but it isn’t followed consistently. Favoritism and working round the clock gets rewarded over loyalty and dedication. Many offices have a high turnover because people realize they have better options elsewhere.

Pros

GREAT work environment at Virginia State Police. Pay is good. Better than most contract employers for benefits. Supposed to get a bonus of a week's pay after 1 year and some paid holidays at that point. Best thing is getting to work on projects in AWS.

Cons

Requires 4 days a week on-site. No OT allowed. No pay for holidays, sick days or vacation. VITA requiring me to get a PMP, even though I was told I did not need one for the role.
