Pros

-Beautiful brand -Some truly wonderful people on staff -Unlimited PTO

Cons

Vangst was once a thriving, fun company full of dedicated cannabis experts. With the addition of a new product and a new leader, this has since disintegrated. Most legacy employees quit or were laid off - many of them replaced with contractors from said leaders posse. The company's focus has shifted from cannabis to tech, which would normally be fine if the cannabis part of the business was still embraced. There are no longer internal champions fighting to preserve this. Vangst has now built an identity that is completely transparent with very little knowledge or expertise of cannabis. Their values have been manufactured and are now nothing but empty words. Vangst is also quick to lay off at the slightest hiccup. There have been at least three MAJOR layoffs that have affected the company greatly. It's surprising to see this in a company with a strong c-suite, including a CFO. It seems like poor financial planning if you have to ditch your staff every time things get a little tight. You'll never be able to build a company that employees want to work at long term until this is rectified.

Thanks for taking the time to review your experience with Vangst on Glassdoor. We know Glassdoor plays an important role in helping prospective candidates get a feel for what it’s like to work at Vangst, so your feedback means a lot to us. We pride ourselves on the team of leaders who are both cannabis experts and experts in their chosen career fields; this balance holds true today and love for/knowledge of the plant is certainly something we value when building our team. While change is a constant when growing a team and a business from the ground up, cannabis is core to identity and is embraced in our company culture, our brand, and the purpose of our business, which is to get cannabis to work every day. Like many other growing companies, especially during the COVID pandemic, reductions in workforce have been an unfortunate reality . We aim to make these decisions with care and transparency. This holiday season has been a time of growth for Vangst and we’re looking forward to continuing this growth in 2021. If you want to talk more about your experience at Vangst with our People Team, we’d love to get in touch. Please feel free to reach out any time to continue the conversation. -Karson p.p. Pros

Joining Vangst through an acquisition last year has been one of the most exciting and rewarding transitions of my career. From the start, the integration process was smooth, supportive, and intentional. Over the past year, we’ve seen incredible growth — not just in revenue and client base, but in our internal development as a team. We've expanded into new markets, launched new service offerings, and built out a stronger infrastructure that allows us to serve our partners and candidates more effectively than ever before. The pace of growth has been fast, but with it has come so much opportunity. The best part of working here, without question, is the people. This team is made up of passionate, driven, and genuinely kind individuals who care deeply about their work and about each other. There’s a strong sense of purpose and collaboration that makes every challenge feel worth it — and every win feel like a team effort.

Cons

It’s that with so much opportunity, it’s hard to say no! The energy here is contagious, and it’s easy to find yourself raising your hand for more — but that’s also what makes it such an exciting place to grow.

Pros

Paychecks were on time that’s it.

Cons

I had a very negative experience with Vangst Staffing under the management of Dan Hutchinson. The work environment is plagued by favoritism and discriminatory practices, and if you don’t “suck up” to certain supervisors, you risk being ostracized. On top of that, I was underpaid for my work. When I reported the issue, I was finally paid what I was owed—but shortly after, I was terminated with no reason at all. This shows a clear lack of fairness, integrity, and accountability. I would strongly caution anyone considering working with Vangst to be aware of these issues.
