Pros

The training provided as a new hire was much stronger than that for most of the industry. The 401k package is quite strong and the health coverage is above average. Vanguard has very strong ethics. The company has never laid anyone off - ever!

Cons

The longer you work there, the more you will learn of the short-comings of the company. To name a couple: there are constant technology issues that never get fixed, sometimes no one knows what is going on with a particular business process, the company cannot admit it made a mistake, and the company continues to hire college graduates into leadership positions that do not have the proper background, training or experience, thereby creating inferior people leaders. Cash compensation is lower than average.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
