Pros

Really liberal travel expense policy! Probably the only company out there who’ll finance a 3-year affair with an employee who lives and works 2,000 miles away, while giving you the opportunity to fly first class all the time, dine at multiple Michelin Star restaurants, stay at top-tier hotels & resorts, and rent high-end cars as long as you’re able to get where you’re supposed to be (when you’re supposed to be there) to be the ‘face of Vanguard.’ Great opportunities to be able to ‘work’ remotely from beaches, resort pools, your backyard, etc., with company-paid laptops and jet packs, as long as there’s a cell signal.

Cons

Cult-like culture that claims to value diversity, while managing out experienced employees who are a detriment to the EEO equation in an effort to save the company money. Little chance to get anywhere petitioning the industry regulatory agency headed by the former CEO, after the company makes disparaging comments in an effort to prohibit employment opportunities with competitors.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
