Most of the people are great; benefits are top notch. But, beware. - Manager Vanguard Employee Review

Pros

Work/life balance (depending on boss); most of the people are genuinely good people; benefits are outstanding; many options for growth and development through online and classroom courses.

Cons

A lot of talk of focus on employee engagement, but most leaders do not actually care about the people (I know this because I heard it from many of them). The company is turning in to any other corporate organization; rewarding for the wrong reasons. My last boss was one of worst I have ever seen when it comes to favoritism and being biased towards age, sex, personal interests. It appears that some leaders only got to their current role because they were technical experts in the group for a long time - they have no business leading people.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
