Supposedly a great company to work for...if you can find and get into the right department. - Training Delivery Coordinator Vanguard Employee Review

Pros

Only real pros are the amount of days off you get (starts at 18) and the insurance package. The health benefits are super confusing and not well explained to you but if you do some research and call the insurance company a few times, you find out it's pretty good.

Cons

I continuously have a feeling of stress and dread when I walk into work. Everyone is overworked and severely under-appreciated. Management sees you as a body and while some people are willing to help you in small ways, mostly everyone just looks out for themselves. Recognition for your job is nonexistent and they think that forcing people to work a half hour lunch and then buying you 2 slices of pizza is engaging. Yes, they stand there and watch how much food you take. It is an insanely conservative company that does not appreciate new ideas or change and really has no idea how to be inclusive. Not just of different types of people but also across rank. Management could care less what you say and your opinions do not matter unless it has the potential for a lawsuit or could cost them money. If you are progressive and in any way different than a cookie cutter white male with a finance degree, good luck finding success here.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
