Pros

Great coworkers, interesting technology, the return of events like the Fall Festival.

Cons

Maxar used to be a stellar workplace, but over the last 2 years the decline has been extreme. Leadership just decided to remove direct primary care from the benefits package AND raise insurance premiums by mind-boggling amounts. The 2024 merit cycle was a hot mess. Many high performers got 1% “merit increases” if a peer got a promotion. The mid-year promotion cycle has been delayed, leaving people in limbo who deserve the recognition. These are the people who launched 4 satellites in less than 6 months, who poured everything they had into this company. And the company has taken those wins and turned their backs on the people who brought this success. They have decided that we are numbers on a spreadsheet, not people. It’s no wonder they removed “You Matter” from the values. We don’t to them. The people doing the hard work are expected to penny pinch, work overtime, miss professional development opportunities at conferences, and commute to half empty offices. Meanwhile the people hired to be our leaders, the ones who are supposed to set an example, are allowed to work remotely and are flown in to headquarters on the company’s dime. If you want to cut the travel budget, start with requiring your VPs and above to live in the same state as headquarters and subject them to the same hybrid work schedule as everyone else. At least Dan Jablonsky used to come to the first floor to see his people, drop in to say hi, and listen. Those days are long gone, and I can no longer recommend this company to friends with a good conscience.

Thank you for your tenure and for taking the time to share your feedback and concerns. As we have been sharing and communicating to our employees, every business must consider tradeoffs when it comes to making decisions that are in the best interest of its employees and business. We’ve certainly had to make some difficult decisions as it relates to Maxar’s healthcare offerings to ensure the ongoing health and well-being of the broader employee population, though we remain committed to ensuring we provide access to quality care at a reasonable cost for our employees. We understand these changes can be difficult and our team is available to answer any additional questions or share additional insights that may be helpful and relevant. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of the Executive Leadership Team should you wish to discuss further. Thank you again for your many contributions to Maxar, we welcome the chance to listen to employee feedback as we seek to action on our opportunity areas.

Pros

The older version of the company (Maxar) was a pretty solid mission.

Cons

Where to begin? Over my time at Maxar (then the "rebrand" to Vantor,) I watched this company completely devolve. Owned by private equity, this company is a world class example of a reprehensible, integrity lacking dumpster fire that will tout themselves as being a great place to work, pro veteran, bla bla bla...then FLAGRANTLT, REPEATEDLY, AND UNAPOLOGETICALLY: -Lie, -Manipulate, -Promote questionable individuals who negatively impact security, and actively discriminate, take advantage of, and then kick to the curb multiple disabled veterans. The most pathetic part is that the one department you would hope would have integrity routinely, consistently, as well as being well documented, Cybersecurity- had ZERO INTEGRITY. ZERO LEADERSHIP, AND ACTIVELY DISCRIMINATED AGAINST MULTIPLE VETERANS. Besides creating the most toxic environment possible, and supported by a complete whiny, tantrum throwing CEO who is just responsible for appeasing the private equity sleazebags who care about nothing and nobody other than their bottom line, (who then actively hurt it by routinely letting documented high performers go so they can rinse and repeat by cutting costs, even when they are trying to screw over disabled veterans.
