Pros

Baltimore has very limited employment and career options. Therefore, any company (even Videology) is a ray of hope here. The company's technology operates on ethical basis and not on 'money making machine' basis.

Cons

1) Lay offs- Videology recently laid off 25-30% of its employees and this was the second time (first was two years back). This time a lot of old employees and star performers were laid off who were in the middle level management. The reason given was cost cutting since these employees were enjoying high salaries and their job could be easily replaced by their direct reports who are employed at lesser salaries. Hope this does not become a pattern where employees are laid off every two years. It is very unfortunate when people have to lose their jobs at no fault of theirs. 2) Employees on visa- The company does not take any responsibility for H1B visa or Green Card. As a part of the new HR policy, the employee has to bear the premium processing fees if he/she wants to upgrade their application to fast track. Employees need to constantly follow up with HR for visa related matters. 3) Growth opportunities- Promotions and salary hikes are limited. The reason behind this is cost cutting, again. Especially for employees on visa, growth is an uphill battle. 4) Structure- Few big departments have now got split in to multiple departments and have been assigned new heads, and roles. Not sure if this sort of an arrangement was made to accommodate company objectives or certain high profile employees. One of the sister concerns have shut down and the people working there have been placed at good positions in Videology.

Videology Response

Thank you for the very thorough review! We truly value the feedback from our current and former employees. We’re very sorry that your experience at Videology wasn’t as positive as you nor we would have hoped. We are taking your feedback seriously and will work to address the concerns of yours and others with similar feedback. We want to take this opportunity to provide additional clarity to some of the statements you made in your review and correct some factually incorrect statements you have made, such as the mass layoff you mentioned as recently occurring. That is incorrect. As Videology matures, we must structure our business to meet the changing needs of the advertising industry. Staying ahead of the complex, competitive curve takes a lot of work! We have some very ambitious goals to meet over the next year, and because of that, we have to make some tough decisions. Our senior leadership team takes a very thorough approach to evaluating our industry and client demands, and formulating a strategic vision that drives business. No matter what, though, we seek to stay true to who we are – a family. Videology always have the best interest of our employees in mind and provide extensive support to anyone impacted by strategic changes in the business. The same is true for our employees on work visa; Videology does provide visa sponsorship as a benefit to our employees, and work very hard to process requirements on a timely basis. At the same time, we expect our employees to take ownership of their sponsorships, partnering closely with us throughout the process. It’s a joint effort and one that we take very seriously. We appreciate your candor and we’ll take what you said to make Videology an even more awesome place to work. We do feel that our efforts of putting a solid career path, structured talent assessment and promotion processes into place in 2016 will put us even further ahead of that complex, competitive curve in 2017.
