Pros

This is a quite small town (officially it is the largest town in Virginia) for living and studying. It is in the Appalachian mountains and good for outdoor exercise.

Cons

A little far away from big cities. The nearest big city is Washington, D.C., which is 5 hours away. The nearest airport is Roanoke–Blacksburg Regional Airport, which is 40 minutes away.

Pros

The experience was great. The PI was amazing and kind and I learned a lot, definitely would do it again. It yielded great results for me such as publication. I recommend for medical school or graduate school.

Cons

Difficult to justify if you don’t plan to have a research career, graduate or professional school because the pay is lower than other positions available in Blacksburg.
